There Is Light!!!

December 24, 2006

My Dear Neighbor:

During this precious holiday season, when we are reminded that we all have been given the opportunity to give light to the world, we should feel enormously blessed that we have been able to do so as a community.    I often think about Dr. Martin Luther King's dream of a "Beloved Community" and out of all of our accomplishments becoming a Beloved Community is our greatest achievement.  We have come together for a purpose greater than ourselves - we have crossed economic barriers, racial barriers, gender barriers, political barriers and have successfully merged two counties.  At this very moment our light could not be brighter and it is for this reason alone that we must venture on to make a difference throughout our State.  For what we have accomplished here can truly be accomplished anywhere - we are living proof.  A door has been opened to us to make a difference regarding environmental issues and we would be remiss to not walk through it.

As the New Year begins, the Task Force Governing Board will be unveiling a strategic plan to carry out this mission.  So rest while you can because we have only begun to break through the darkness!

May you and your family feel God's greatest gift of Love today and always,

Connie
