Quarry Task Force Petition Drive

Good Afternoon Neighbor:

I wanted to let everyone know that the Quarry Task Force will be holding their first petition drive this Saturday March 1, 2008 from 11 to 3pm at the Buffington Road Fire Station.  Please make every effort to come out and sign their petition to Stop the Blasting for the Health and Welfare of our Community.

If you are coming from the Interstate, take Flat Shoals Rd and turn right on Buffington  to the Fire Station.   Or you can come from Old National Hwy turn left on Burdette Rd - rt on Burdette way - left on Meadows Way - left on Bill Cook Rd and then you will come to the intersection of Buffington and the Fire station is at that intersection.

I want to end my email with a precious story about Mr. Rogers that Andre Walker of GA Politics Unfiltered posted today.  I have often thought about our connection with Mr. Rogers who was passionate about the benefits of being a good neighbor and how ironic that I began all of my emails in the summer of 2006 to our community with "Good Morning Neighbor".  I feel our community takes very seriously the spiritual directive of "Love thy Neighbor as Thyself" and I am so blessed to a be a part of such a large neighborhood known as the South Fulton and Fayette Community.

Peachtree City Plans on Using Waste Sludge on Recreation Fields

Good Evening Neighbor:

Our very own Dennis Chase is featured on the Ben Show - this is of very high importance as to what Dennis and Ben have to say.  If you know anyone who lives in Peachtree City, you need to make sure they listen to this.  The Peachtree City Council is turning a deaf ear and our children will be harmed.

I am also enclosing the website information for the Peachtree City Council - please start sending your emails directly to them sharing your concerns.  I plan to draft a letter of concern from the Task Force as well.  Also, remember that you can go and give public comment this Thursday at their City Council meeting.  LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!!!!

And They Said It Could Not Be Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning Neighbor:

December 22, 2006 we saw the closing of  the"Waste Water Treatment" operation of PSC and now we are going to witness the closing of that last 10% of legal operation they had left - see the email below I received yesterday.  I have asked for a timeline.

Connie,

EPD has received a closure plan for the solidification pit at PSC.  The plan includes cleaning the concrete pit, removing the concrete pit, and back filling the pit with clean soil and seeding with grass.

Never, Never underestimate the power of a few committed people to change the world!!!!  We are a testament that it can be done and are eager to help other communities all across this State to do the same.  In fact,  last night the Quarry Task Force was formed and strategic plans are being made to fight Vulcan Industries.  THE BLASTING WILL STOP!!   Peoples lives will be put first in the State of Georgia!

I want to end this email with a great community I was just introduced to via website - I learned of them through a great neighbor, Ashley Simpson of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy.  They are known as NGASS - North Georgia Against Septic Spreading (I pray that they did not get any of our pesticide sludge).  They have a wonderful website and I absolutely love the song that comes on when you open their site - it is the motto of all of our communities!!

Hazardous Waste Recycler Jailed in Mississippi

Good Morning Neighbor:

Has there ever been an environmental conviction in Georgia?  This could set a precedent for our community to file charges against AMVAC in Alabama for marking their product dumped here as "Waste Water"  when it clearly was not.  In fact, our Task Force has concluded that the mixture that was sent here was extremely more potent than that used by farmers.

Your neighbor,

P.S.  The Task Force is in the process of building a new website - right now I am having to ask Tech support to lengthen the Forum pages so that entire news articles might be submitted.   We are trying to post the articles from past to present so that anyone can readily read the entire history of our community event.  We will be posting videos from our Town Hall meetings in the coming week so keep a check on our new site as it evolves - there is already a photo album completed of our first protest - go to the communitytaskforce.tv

Same Story just Different Players

Hi all:

I attended the meeting regarding the Red Oak Quarry that is causing damage to homes in South Fulton and I am suffering from Post Traumatic Stress this morning because I relived our first Town Hall Meeting July 19, 2006.  Our neighbors just off of Old National are dealing with the very same issues!! Corporate hired seismographic testing that tells folks their houses are not being harmed yet their houses have cracks in the walls and foundations and often times when there is a blast their furniture moves and their books and pictures fall off the wall.  The people are ill from breathing in blasting particles but the air has not been tested in the community and the list just goes on!!!

However, I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to be able to give our neighbors of sense of hope.  It is now a proven fact that all of our Task Force efforts are going to have a ripple effect and be able to help other communities replicate what we have done.  Our community should feel so very proud - we are now able to give to others in such a way that truly helps to change peoples lives for the better.

Have a wonderful Friday - I know I am because I know we can help make a difference.

Your neighbor,

Connie

The Ben Show

Good Evening Neighbor:

I just finished listening to this week's edition of The Ben Show  - it is a great audio show that The Citizen has just started and I encourage you to give it a listen each week.  This week Ben focuses on local environmental issues and PSC just happens to be one of them.

Also, just a reminder of the Town Hall meeting tomorrow night regarding the Red Oak Quarry.   When neighbors ban together - nothing can stop the common good from being revealed.

Your neighbor,

Connie

Important Articles

Good Morning Neighbor:

There is so much to share!!  Please see all the articles below.  We will be going to help our neighbors near the Red Oak Quarry this Thursday night as they begin to put a stop to the blasting that is severely damaging their homes as well as endangering their health from breathing in small particles of debris on a regular basis.  I will send you more information in the very near future on exact meeting place and time.

Your neighbor,

Connie
